Can The 4 Hour work week work in real estate? – 3

This is my take on the 4 hour work week for real estate agents – based on the book by Tim Ferriss.

My aim of the articles I have written,  is to give you ideas on how real estate agents / realtors  can adopt   The 4 hour work week  principles to work less hours and make more money.

How can real estate agents become the  NR  ( New Rich)  and how can they operate in real estate?

Firstly, we will look at the fundamentals of his concepts  –  This is where it starts.

The life style design recipe

The lifestyle design  is a step by step way to reinvent yourself and your career.

Tim used this formula to increase his per hour results to 10 times or more with counter intuitive techniques.  Instead of earning $40,000 a year, he used this formula to create an income of $40,000 a month.  He also lived the NR lifestyle.  This involved him working around 4 hours a week, making loads more money and working remotely.

In real estate I am not saying that you can do what Tim has done.  Ours is a different business model.   As real estate salespeople we need to be in front of people.

What I do want to challenge you to do,  is think of ways you can adopt some of these principles to work less hours and create a higher income.

Definition

This is where we define the rules and the objectives – Exploring what this can lead to and also what it is we want.   This information turns common sense upside down.  We will explore and understand who the NR are.  (The new rich)  This involves explaining the overall lifestyle design recipe and understanding the fundamentals.

Elimination

This will show why we shouldn’t  focus on time management as such and why we should focus more on what’s important.  We need to learn to ignore the unimportant.  Either it’s important enough for you to do, you can get someone else  to do, or it’s not important at all.   What is important,  is doing things that lead to results.

In real estate the results we are after are either  an appraisal, a listing or a sale.

We as real estate agents need to think more as an Entrepreneur than a real estate salesperson.

The Entrepreneurial  concept was thought to originate with a French ecomomist – JB  Say  in the 1800’s  – ‘One who shifts economic resources out of an area of lower yield into an area of higher yield.’    Tim used the words those words of this Italian economist,  to turn 12 hour days into 2 hour days – in 48 hours.  Elimination  Creates Time

Automation
Amongst other things we will look at is outsourcing –  This is where we will look at the important.
Automation Creates  income.
Liberation
This is where we will look at remote control systems  – Where you can work from anywhere – Freedom of location.

You need to create freedom of location first before you cut your work hours.  Have mobility in mind.  This may be  for you to have the luxury of working from home instead of the real estate office.   Liberation Creates mobility.

The concepts will seem impossible at first.  Tim recommends to  test the principals and use it as an exercise in lateral thinking and have fun with it.

Once you start, it will all start to make sense.

You will become addicted to the results.
