Andrew Morello – Past real estate agent, auctioneer and winner of the Australian Apprentice
Andrew Morello – First interview question – What did you learn about yourself on The Apprentice?
The apprentice was a great accountability partner.
If say for example, we asked a real estate agent to make 100 prospecting calls a day and we left them to their own devices, they would find it very hard to create the discipline to complete the job. Having the discipline to prospect is hard. Most agents will say they’ll make 100 calls a day, then when asked, they would be lucky to make 10 a week, if they aren’t monitored and held accountable.
Imagine a different scenario where camera crews followed you around for 10 weeks – You would give 110% all the time. After having that happen to Andrew, it really created a lasting habit for him. He now always checks in on himself that he’s doing the right thing, that he’s helping others around him.
He likened it to say, if you were carrying the rubbish to the bin and your garbage bag had a tear in it and something fell out, some people would leave it there. With an accountability partner, you would pick it up! (Just in case Mrs Mangles from apartment 3 is looking).
The apprentice made him accountable. He never knew when someone was looking.
That’s a great way to look at getting things done.
What would you do today if you had camera crews following you?
