11 Steps to Becoming a Successful Real Estate Agent

1. Do work experience – See if you like Real Estate.
- See what the job REALLY entails.
- Join groups on Facebook like Let’s talk about real estate.
- Talk to real estate agents.
- Find the right office and the right systems.
- Find what resonates with you.
2. Research and obtain the necessary licenses/certificates / qualifications.
Depending on what you want to do and where.
- Understand the law.
3. Apply for jobs or start your own business.
- Different states / countries obviously have different requirements.
4. Create or find templates for everything you need initially… Listing kits, flyers. Prospecting letters. Prepare and plan for everything you need.
5. Work out systems.
- Checklists – Streamline all procedures.
- e.g Pre / Post Listing, Follow up.
- Systemise as much as you can –
- Read the book e-myth by Michael Gerber.
6. Build your database.
- Put every single person you know into your database.. Love them or hate them, put them into your database.
- Keep including people you meet as you go – always add to your database.
7. Know the local area –
- Roads, schools, shopping centres etc
- Properties for sale.
- Properties sold.
8. Organise your day so that you are doing one of three things.
- Prospecting – Work in your business.
- Always look for new business
- Follow up – Work in your business
- Keep in contact with buyers and sellers (Create deals or get deals together).
- Marketing – Work on your business.
9. Be proactive in the listing / sales process.
- Listen to what the sellers and buyers say
- Listen to what they are NOT saying.
- Communicate.
- Do what needs to be done to help them.
- Our vendor pays us – we work for them always.
10. Know people’s motivation – Know their why. Know their deadlines.
11. Always be Training – Brain Tracy says make your car your university.
